Last weekend in an annual fundraiser dinner held for the one of the electoral districts , Free patriotic movement leader MP Gebran Bassil in the presence of former president and party founder Michel Aoun announces that his parliamentary block has come to an agreement with other political parties about the nomination of former minister of finance Jihad Azour for the position of president of Lebanon and with that completely going against the wishes of his partners in the infamous memorandum of understanding the Lebanese para military and political party Hezbollah.
The move Comes after month of strife with Hezbollah that has now seemed to have boiled over with the later refusing to negotiate any other nominee for the presidential election except their current choice former MP and Marada party leader Suleiman Franjieh a long term ally of Hezbollah with Bassil refusing to even entertain the idea of backing Franjieh.
